Ms. Berry-Toon is Canterbury’s Communicator

Ms. Meredith Berry-Toon is one of Canterbury’s newest additions to its Communications Department. You can find her in her office on the bottom floor of Steele Hall, next to the Mail Room. Beyond her responsibilities there, she also is a dorm parent in Duffy, and coaches Girls’ Varsity Field Hockey and Crew.

Many students at Canterbury might not even know Canterbury has a Communications department, let alone know what it is about.

“We create messages that the school broadcasts to its internal and external constituents,” Ms. Berry-Toon explains. “We try to broadcast our message to reach a broad audience that helps them understand what’s different and unique about our school, like our very unique Catholic heritage.”

After graduating from Wellesley College in 2016, Ms. Berry-Toon worked at a non-profit fundraising consultant company in Boston. After a year of working there, she decided to join the Canterbury community. For high school, she attended Blair Academy, which made her really want to be involved in a boarding school community.

“The community, as cheesy as it may sound, is what it’s all about,” Ms. Berry-Toon said.

She thinks the residential environment and the small student body are what made her fall in love with Canterbury.

“You will never be in a place where adults put that much care into you,” she said.

Eventually, she would like to teach. Since she graduated college as a Spanish major, she would like to teach Spanish.

Ms. Berry-Toon is a fan of The Tabard, and says she checks it every day to see what’s been added.

Canterbury welcomes Ms. Berry-Toon.
